Google’s Gemini Can Now Make Calls for You on Pixel Phones

Google has announced Call for Me, an experimental feature that allows its Gemini AI assistant to make phone calls to businesses on behalf of users with Pixel 11 smartphones. The feature enables Gemini to handle tasks like confirming product availability or scheduling appointments, navigating automated phone menus and hold times while providing users with a live transcript they can monitor and interrupt at any point. This represents Google's second attempt at AI-assisted calling after its earlier Duplex service was discontinued, but the company acknowledges potential challenges such as handling accents and noisy environments that require continued testing. The feature is currently exclusive to Pixel 11 users in the US who have a Gemini subscription and are enrolled in the Phone by Google app's public beta.
