Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar gives Google’s AI a face
Google's new Gemini 3.8 Live update lets users have conversations with the model while watching an animated AI persona respond in real time. The "Live Avatar" will lip-sync and show different facial expressions during conversations, but it's currently only available to Gemini Enterprise customers. Google's new Gemini Live update includes a "Live Avatar" feature, an animated AI persona that can lip-sync and display different facial expressions while having real-time conversations with users. The Live Avatar can transition between multiple languages while maintaining synchronized mouth animation and can display information on screen during conversations, though it is currently available only to Enterprise customers. Google will provide preset avatars for users to choose from and will allow organizations to create their own custom avatars. The feature includes Google's invisible SynthID watermark and safeguards designed to respect identity.
