TechCrunch: Figma announces new features to define how agents work on its platform
Figma is also releasing its code layers feature in open beta.
Design platform Figma announced new features aimed at helping AI agents work more effectively on its platform while adhering to brand design rules. The company introduced Figma Specs, a markdown-based editor that lets teams define their design language in a document that both human teams and AI agents can reference, along with design libraries, code libraries, and guidelines to manage a centralized design system. Figma also expanded access to its agent on canvas feature and released code layers in public beta, allowing users to generate code from designs or have agents assist with code iteration. These tools address the challenge that AI produces unpredictable results by providing mechanisms to steer agents toward more consistent outcomes that follow established design standards.
