Voice AI is quickly becoming core infrastructure as people swap screens and clicks for conversations with their devices. That shift puts new pressure on the compute, storage and partnerships behind the models doing the listening and talking. Deepgram Inc., which expanded its Flux model to 10 languages earlier this year, needs infrastructure for both its […] The post Deepgram targets voice AI on air-gapped laptops appeared first on SiliconANGLE.
Voice AI is becoming core infrastructure as people increasingly interact with devices through conversation rather than screens and clicks. A voice AI company is working to run its models directly on personal laptops in offline mode, rather than requiring connection to cloud servers, to make AI accessible where people actually use their devices. The company has 45 researchers requiring significant computing resources to continuously improve and retrain its models, and it partners with infrastructure providers to deploy voice AI across different settings, from small business systems to enterprise deployments. Getting voice AI to run natively on individual laptops represents the larger goal of meeting people where they are with AI technology.

Autonomous agents now run around the clock across a sprawl of platforms, and controls built for deterministic software were never designed for them. At this year's OpenAI DevDay, CEO Sam Altman unveiled the company's new AI agent Dots - and told the crowd that the company wants to "set a new standard for privacy in frontier AI." OpenAI would spend the day taking veiled shots at Meta's Muse, its primary competitor, for failing to keep users' data safe. Since my son left for college, the Echo Show in my office has been making then-and-now photo montages: the toddler with his first tennis racket next to the captain of his varsity team; me hugging him as a tween beside me hugging him as a youn

Google Cloud has introduced the Google Cloud Gemini agent, a single agent for enterprise work. The Gemini agent is a cloud-hosted agent from Google Cloud that answers questions, does knowledge work, creates media, and writes and runs code. It does all of this from 1 prompt box and 1 API. For developers, the agent is the product and the model is a routing decision. TL;DR Runs on: Google Cloud (AI Hypercomputer). Reached from web, mobile, desktop, CLI, Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, or h
