Claude AI can plug directly into your bank account

Anthropic has a new pitch for managing your personal finances: let Claude do it instead, with a new Personal Finance feature that connects it to your bank and card accounts via the Plaid bank bridging platform. You can ask the chatbot "where did my money go this month," for example, and it'll create an overview with a breakdown of spending by category, including rent and utilities, shopping, and food. Get smart on it

Anthropic has launched a Personal Finance feature for its Claude chatbot that connects to users' bank and card accounts through a bank-bridging platform, allowing the AI to analyze spending patterns and answer questions about financial affordability. The connection is read-only, meaning Claude cannot move or invest money and does not see banking passwords, though it can access account names, balances, transaction history up to two years back, and other account details. This development follows a similar feature introduced by another AI company in May, and represents what the company describes as a first step toward AI working alongside licensed financial professionals. The feature is rolling out in beta to subscribers in the US.
