Calendly, a scheduling software company, has launched a note-taking product that records meetings, transcribes audio and video, generates summaries and action items, and drafts follow-up emails. The company is also developing an AI assistant that uses its scheduling system to set up meetings and surface context from prior meetings. Note-taking automation has become a competitive space, with multiple dedicated note-taking apps and broader productivity platforms adding similar features, though Calendly's CEO emphasizes opportunity in automating tasks after meetings are transcribed rather than just recording them. The company plans to address privacy concerns by informing users when meetings are being recorded through chat messages and calendar integrations, allowing participants to request the app leave the conversation.
