Apple has agreed to hire certain employees and license technology from Huxe, a personalized audio startup that recently shut down. This type of deal, known as a reverse acqui-hire, allows larger companies to acquire talent and intellectual property from startups without purchasing the company outright. Huxe was founded by developers who previously worked on AI-generated podcast features in another product, and the startup announced its shutdown shortly before Spotify introduced its own AI-powered podcast generation features. The arrangement suggests Apple may be considering adding similar personalized audio functionality to its Podcasts app.
